R Sivakumar is Managing Director at Intel Capital and is a voting member on Intel Capital's investment committee. He is responsible for managing the Ultrabook and Perceptual Computing (UPC) Sector and running the Intel Capital Ultrabook Fund and the Intel Capital Experiences and Perceptual Computing Fund. The UPC sector is chartered with investing in innovative new technologies and capabilities to shape the future of computing experiences for Ultrabooks as well as Intel-based systems across the spectrum of devices.

In nearly 25 years at Intel, Siva’s had many roles in engineering, research, investments, M&A, business and market development and sales and marketing.

Siva joined Intel in 1988 as a software engineer as a new college graduate and spent his first 7 years in research and development as part of Intel architecture labs. In 1996, Siva moved to India to expand Intel’s presence and started a number of strategic programs, including ISV relationships, education and university programs, and Intel Capital, making Intel one of the first corporate venture capitalist in India. In 2000, Siva returned to the US as Assistant Treasurer and Director to manage Intel’s M&A program as part of Intel Capital treasury and successfully executed over 20 transactions. In 2004, he took over as Worldwide Director for Business Development in the Intel Mobility Group, to accelerate Intel’s roadmap in mobility platforms and connectivity.

In 2006 Siva moved to New Delhi, India as Managing Director for Intel South Asia, running Intel’s business, eco-system development and Government and policy influence in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Siva’s focus was on broad deployment and technology penetration in this critical region of growth for Intel. In May 2012, Siva returned back to Intel Capital in the US, responsible for investment strategy and coordination for the Intel Architecture Group and the Sales and Marketing Group.

Siva has a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from New Mexico Tech, New Mexico, USA. He also holds a US Patent in network based audio/video processing using multicast technology.

Siva has been a member of multiple Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) national committees on ICT; co-chairman of Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM)’s Telecommunication Committee; an Executive Council Member of Manufacturer’s Association of Information Technology (MAIT) and was a consultant to various government and industry bodies in India.

Siva is married to Sudha and they live with their 2 children in Portland, Oregon, USA. Siva spends much of his personal time in sporting and outdoor activities. Siva is an avid reader with deep interest in current affairs, technology and business.
